It is officially 2020! Although it happens every year, I am one of those people who find the new year to be inspirational. New memories to be made, new lessons to be learned and new trials to face – it is all very exciting to me.
I spent my first two days of the year curled up on the couch, consuming endless cups of tea. I was sick and so the start of the new year was pretty anticlimactic. However, it gave me a chance to settle down after the holidays. Since I had some more time to spare, I stumbled across a few different podcasts, tv shows, and more, that have been really inspiring to me. I wanted to share them with you in hopes that you too may find some inspiration from these amazing sources!
1. Coffee + Crumbs Podcast
This podcast is put together by a group of women who share their stories of motherhood. They are not self-proclaimed experts and in fact, I love the diversity among the women in how they are raising their families. As a soon-to-be new mom myself, there are a lot of things I’m unsure of. Hearing these women tell their stories, might I add with some hilarity, has put me at ease. They make me feel like mistakes are okay. Failures happen. We all intend to be the best mom, but when we fall short, we can laugh at ourselves and know we’re not alone in this. I highly recommend this podcast to moms or anyone thinking of starting to raise a family. They cover other topics but all of it is done so in a storytelling fashion, which I love.
2. Shine On with Reece (Netflix)
In 2016, Reece Witherspoon forged a venture to tell women-focused stories on TV, film and digital platforms. Her company, Hello Sunshine and Otter Media, owned by WarnerMedia, has released a number of amazing projects in just a few years. Reece Witherspoon is unscripted and meets with women excelling in their fields to talk about how these women overcame obstacles and are achieved their dreams. I love her approach in all of the conversations she has with these women. She is genuine, warm and opens up the dialogue that important in today’s culture. The shows aren’t too long and always leave me feeling inspired.
3. Gretchen Rubin’s 20 for 20 List (Instagram)
If you have not checked out the author, Gretchen Rubin, I highly recommend you pick up one of her books this year. I started listening to her podcast, Happier with Gretchen Rubin, 3 years ago and absolutely love it. It’s inspirational, educational and again, leaves me feeling so inspired. She co-hosts the podcast with her sisters.
It is a tradition that each year Gretchen and her sister make their list of goals for the year. This is a new spin on resolutions. The goal of the list is to create a list of things that are easy, ambitious or habit changing.
Below is Gretchen’s list for the year and below that is my list for 2020. Share your list with me on Instagram by post #20for2020 and #KindlyKal.
4. Ibotta (App)
I have heard about Ibotta over and over but didn’t really pay attention. There are so many apps out there now and so I drowned it out. I was listening to a podcast when someone walked through Ibotta, step-by-step. I didn’t realize what a powerful money-saving tool this would be! You earn cashback in-store and online when you shop for groceries, clothing, home travel and much more. All you need to do is select where you’re going to shop, add the products or savings to your account and then after you’ve shopped, you scan your receipt and the bar code of the items from your list and boom, you’re done! Money-back in your pocket!
This was inspirational for me because Jordan and I are focusing some more energy on saving money and paying off debts this year. I was looking for an easy way to save on things that I will already be spending money on and this was a great solution!
